Panji:A total of 3,790 luxury vehicles, valued at approximately RM550 million, have been seized by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) under the operation known as Ops Luxury, spanning from June 2025 up until yesterday, due to various offences.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, JPJ's senior director of enforcement, Datuk Muhammad Kifli Ma Hassan, revealed that 785 of these vehicles were confiscated between June and December 2025. An additional 3,005 vehicles were seized from January to September 26 this year.

Negeri Sembilan recorded the highest number of vehicle seizures with 469, followed by Selangor with 410, Kuala Lumpur with 382, Johor with 367, and Penang with 357.

Some luxury vehicle owners have expressed reluctance to visit JPJ offices to renew their road tax due to being blacklisted for previous offences. Muhammad Kifli pointed out a puzzling trend where lower-income groups manage to renew their road tax, while owners of luxury vehicles from the T20 group cite various reasons for not doing so, leading to their vehicles being seized.

Investigations have indicated that about 20 percent of these luxury vehicle owners are cosmetic entrepreneurs, influencers, and businesspeople. Muhammad Kifli emphasized that Ops Luxury will continue to ensure all road users adhere to the law, irrespective of the vehicle's price or the owner's status.

He stressed the importance of compliance, stating that owning a luxury vehicle entails the responsibility to keep all vehicle and driving documents valid and to ensure vehicles meet all necessary requirements before use on the road.
