JPJ to Regulate Intermediary Services for Customer Transactions Starting January 1

Perlis:Only individuals or company representatives registered as intermediaries and approved by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) will be permitted to conduct transactions on behalf of customers at all JPJ offices and branches nationwide from January 1.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli stated that the new requirement aims to regulate intermediary services more systematically, transparently, and with integrity. The registration for JPJ-approved intermediaries will commence on November 1 through an online platform provided by the department.

Each approved registered intermediary will receive an official digital identification document with a serial number, valid for two years, subject to the department's terms and regulations. Aedy Fadly emphasized that this implementation does not imply any ties, cooperation, or business relationship between JPJ and any registered intermediary. Approval of registration does not constitute JPJ's endorsement, recommendation, or guarantee of the services offered by the intermediary.

JPJ will not be held responsible for any losses, fraud, additional charges, or disputes that may arise from private transactions between customers and registered intermediaries. The public is advised to remain cautious and prioritize the department's official channels, such as the MyJPJ application, the JPJ Public Portal, service counters, and other official channels, to avoid any unwanted risks.

Aedy Fadly noted that this initiative demonstrates JPJ's ongoing commitment to enhancing integrity, transparency, and service delivery efficiency while ensuring customer interests remain a priority.

Regarding the upgraded Perlis JPJ counters, Aedy Fadly reported that the office now offers a more modern, orderly, and conducive environment following improvements completed under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP). These upgrades were completed in five months, ahead of the six-month target, and are expected to benefit approximately 400 customers who visit the office daily, as well as provide staff with a more organized and comfortable working environment.
