JPNS STARTS PRE- PKKI CLASS IN SYED SIRAJUDDIN ARMY CAMP FOR SPECIAL KIDS

SEREMBAN, The Negeri Sembilan Education Department (JPNS) took a proactive step by opening a class under the Integrated Special Education Programme (PKKI) for special children of military personnel at SK Kem Syed Sirajuddin in Gemas.

JPNS director Datuk Dr Roslan Hussin said the pre-PKKI class which started in camp at the beginning of the month, made daily routine easier for soldiers as they can manage their children’s education closer to home instead of sending them to a school located five kilometres away in Gemas town.

He said the idea was made into reality after hearing complaints from military personnel who wanted their children to get the best education and not fall behind in mainstream education.

‘During a working visit to the school at the beginning of this year, I saw the need to establish this pre-PKKI class, because soldiers were otherwise forced to send their children to a school outside the camp.

‘I took this initiative and looked for a space to create this pre-PKKI class to make it easier fo
r the soldiers in the camp. So far there are two guidance teachers and six students are attending lessons in this pre-PKKI class,’ he told Bernama when he attended the official launch of the pre-PKKI class in camp.

Roslan is also confident that the enrolment in the pre-PKKI class will increase and regular visits will be made to ensure that these special children receive a proper primary school education and are not be left behind.
