Layang-layang: The Department of Labour Peninsular Malaysia (JTKSM) is pushing for the integration of workplace safety education within school curricula to build student awareness before they enter the workforce. JTKSM director-general Kamal Pardi emphasized the importance of early exposure, stating that it would enable students to understand and practice safety aspects in various environments as they transition into their professional lives.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the JTKSM MADANI School Adoption Programme aims to instill safety consciousness not just by upgrading physical infrastructure but by prioritizing the overall safety and well-being of the school community. At SMK Layang-Layang, several improvements have been made, including the construction of an additional roof between the open hall and the canteen, equipped with water channels to minimize rain exposure risk. Additionally, an 'awning' has been installed on the side of the open hall to enhance comfort during assemblies and school events. Other safety measures include the construction of drain covers in high-risk areas and leveling of floors to ensure they are safer.

Kamal Pardi conveyed that these improvements serve as educational tools for students, with JTKSM and the education department providing explanations on the significance of safety measures and potential risks if preventive actions are neglected. Through the programme, SMK Layang-Layang received a RM100,000 allocation from JTKSM, while Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp) contributed RM40,000 towards student development programmes and the construction of a school stage.
