Kampung Angkat MADANI: DOSM Implements Seven Projects In Kampung Baharu, Sabak Bernam

Kuala lumpur: The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) is implementing seven projects aimed at improving physical and social infrastructure in Kampung Baharu here under the Kampung Angkat MADANI (MADANI Adopted Village) initiative. Chief Statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin announced that these projects involve upgrades to key facilities, including the community hall, cemetery, mosque, business premises, Sekolah Kebangsaan Kampung Baharu, and a pre-school.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the projects encompass repairs to building structures, electrical systems, and basic facilities; procurement of learning equipment and support facilities; provision of a funeral management room; and development of a children's play area. Various programmes and activities were conducted during the four-day DOSM engagement to ensure the success of the opening ceremony. These events included sports activities such as FitDOSM, a football tournament, cooking, essay-writing and fishing competitions, gotong-royong, and rewang activities, as well as religious talks.

Mohd Uzir highlighted that these programmes were designed to enhance the spirit of cooperation, increase community participation, and foster unity among residents. He made these remarks at a press conference following the opening and handover of the physical projects under the DOSM's Kampung Angkat MADANI initiative at the Kampung Baharu community hall.

DOSM also engaged directly with traders and vendors around Sungai Besar to emphasize the importance of data in managing and growing their businesses. As the primary government agency for collecting, interpreting, and disseminating official national statistics to monitor economic performance and social development, DOSM supports the development of Kampung Baharu through a data-driven approach.

DOSM is committed to strengthening statistical literacy within the community through awareness programmes and activities, including guidance on the use of data for small businesses and smart agriculture. This effort aims to build a data-literate society capable of making informed decisions. Mohd Uzir stressed that a country aspiring to progress needs its people to be proficient in using statistics, as it provides the insight and wisdom necessary for sound decision-making and effective resource management.

Meanwhile, DOSM is implementing a smart school digitalisation project at Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Limau, Sungai Besar, under the Sekolah Angkat MADANI (MADANI Adopted School) initiative. This project includes the upgrading and development of a digital resource centre, as well as the establishment of a computer laboratory through approved allocations.
