Batu pahat: Kampung Istana in the Penggaram state constituency is set to become an ecotourism hotspot with initiatives focusing on digital marketing training for local entrepreneurs and improved internet access to boost the local economy.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil highlighted the village's potential due to its strategic location near popular recreation areas such as Bukit Banang and Bukit Soga. Fahmi expressed his intention to collaborate with the National Information Dissemination (NADI) to train local entrepreneurs in promotional techniques to enhance the village's ecotourism appeal.
Fahmi's remarks came during a goodwill event with Kampung Istana residents, where he was joined by Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah and Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for the Penggaram constituency, Felicia Poh Rui Ling.
Fahmi emphasized the importance of strengthening the internet network in the area, which would not only support tourism but also allow young people to engage with the digital economy locally. He noted the potential for young residents to benefit from an improved internet network, enabling them to contribute to the local economy without leaving Kampung Istana.
Earlier, Fahmi acknowledged Abdul Halim's efforts in implementing the Kampung Angkat MADANI Programme in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and the Johor State Government. This initiative has led to the upgrading of public facilities, including the community hall, and the provision of equipment to support community activities and cooperation among residents.
Fahmi expressed hope that the enhancements and equipment would be fully utilized by residents, helping to maintain Kampung Istana as a sustainable and vibrant community.
