KBS Allocates RM100 Million For Three Major Sports Funds For 2026

Kuala lumpur: The Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) has allocated RM100 million for three major sports funds under the 2026 budget, namely the National Sports Trust Fund (KWASN), the Sports Matching Grant (GPS), and the Community Sports Fund (DSK).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh announced that RM50 million would be distributed to KWASN, RM30 million to GPS, and RM20 million to DSK. Detailed terms and conditions, including the application schedule, will be available on the KBS website starting December 15, allowing associations and organizers to plan and submit applications within the specified timelines.

Hannah emphasized that KBS and all agencies under the ministry that provide allocations do not charge any fees or commissions, nor do they appoint intermediaries. She encouraged interested parties to contact the ministry directly, as these allocations are meant for all eligible groups.

Commenting on the GPS, Hannah stated that the grants are available as reimbursement claims for organizing high-performance and high-impact tournaments at state, national, and international levels. Events with a significant impact on Malaysia might receive approvals of up to RM1 million.

Regarding the DSK, she noted that the one-off assistance will prioritize sports associations registered with the Sports Commissioner (PJS) and youth clubs registered with the Registrar of Youth Organisations (ROY). Starting next year, DSK will also be extended to organizations registered under the Registrar of Societies (ROS), targeting sports and recreational programs at both district and state levels. Applications below RM10,000 will be paid directly, while those above RM10,000 will be disbursed in stages.

For the KWASN fund, Hannah mentioned it is available to private athletes participating in sports at the Olympic Games or other official sporting events. Only world-ranking status tournaments will be considered for overseas participation, while friendly matches or unrecognized competitions will not be approved.
