KBS To Consider Additional Community Sports Funding For High-performing States

Kota samarahan: The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) is prepared to consider requests for additional Community Sports Fund (DSK) allocations for states that have fully utilised their existing allocation. Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Mordi Bimol emphasized that the fund is available to all states and sports clubs that meet the application requirements.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the DSK was established to help communities and sports clubs organise sporting activities nationwide. Mordi stated that interested states and clubs need to submit their applications through the proper channels for consideration. His remarks came during the 2026 Women in Sports Leadership Seminar at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Kota Samarahan.

Mordi was responding to inquiries about the possibility of expanding additional funding models, similar to those granted to Penang, to other states that have shown strong performance. He also highlighted that KBS provides various forms of assistance, including the Sports Matching Grant (GPS), to support sporting activities at all levels, including grassroots initiatives.

For the current year, Mordi noted that KBS has allocated RM30 million for the Sports Matching Grant and RM20 million for the Community Sports Fund.
