Kuala lumpur: The Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) will identify and prioritize sports schools in the country that will be the first to receive assistance in terms of facilities and other needs. Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Adam Adli Abdul Halim highlighted ongoing discussions with the Ministry of Education (MOE) to enhance sports schools, focusing on improvements in expertise, coaching, and infrastructure.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Malaysia's major sports institutions, like the Bukit Jalil Sports School, are set to benefit from this initiative. These schools share facilities with the National Sports Council and have assets under the Malaysian Sports Corporation. The ministry aims to foster closer cooperation, especially with other sports schools, and is ready to address any needs they can support at their level.
Although sports schools fall under the jurisdiction of the MOE, Adam Adli emphasized that KBS has consistently supported their athlete development programs. The ministry continues to give these programs due attention and has established a Sports Development Cabinet Committee (JKPS) to review the division of responsibilities between KBS and MOE concerning sports schools.
The JKPS serves as a platform for comprehensive discussions to identify areas where coordination can be improved. Currently, KBS is working closely with MOE to ensure effective collaboration. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim recently reiterated the government's commitment to enhancing facilities at sports schools nationwide, aiming to raise the standard of excellence among future athletes. Discussions with Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh have been held to expedite all necessary assistance.
