Kuala lumpur: The Visit Kedah Year 2025 (VKY2025) campaign will further boost Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VMY2026), which aims to attract 40 million tourists next year, said State Tourism, Culture and Entrepreneurship Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Salleh Saidin. He stated that the state's tourism campaign has drawn more visitors, especially to explore both new and established attractions in Langkawi and the rapidly developing mainland.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the VKY2025 campaign, themed 'Experience Kedah', encourages tourists to see, taste, and fully immerse themselves in the experiences the state offers. The campaign is anchored on five key pillars: history, culture, arts, natural beauty, and gastronomy. Initiatives guided by these five pillars have already proven to yield encouraging results, Salleh mentioned at the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Malaysia Inter-State Tourism Networking Forum.
He noted that Kedah's existing attractions are gaining greater attention while new tourism products and events are rapidly emerging. Meanwhile, Salleh said the state government provides full support to tourism industry players to visit Kedah and explore the state's expanding tourism offerings.
Kedah offers a range of destinations, from Gunung Jerai to Lake Pedu, Dayang Bunting to Pulau Songsong, and Sungai Batu, home to Southeast Asia's oldest civilisation, to Kuala Kedah with its legendary Perang Musuh Bisik. The padi fields, fruit orchards, Mek Mulong, Cinta Sayang dance, Kedah laksa, and Gulai Temenung each offer unique appeal. This not only strengthens domestic tourism but also positions Malaysia as a preferred regional destination.
