Kedah KPDN Apprehends Thai Woman for Diesel Smuggling

Kuala nerang: The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) has arrested a Thai woman attempting to smuggle diesel using a vehicle with a Malaysian registration number plate at a petrol station in Kuala Nerang.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kedah KPDN director Muhammad Nizam Jamaludin stated that the woman, in her 40s, was apprehended following a public tip-off and intelligence gathered by Alor Setar KPDN enforcement personnel. Initial observations revealed that a pickup truck was filling up diesel before the driver changed the vehicle's local registration plates to foreign ones at the back of the petrol station.

Further inspection uncovered diesel stored in a modified tank. Authorities discovered that the petrol station had sold 273 litres of diesel in a single transaction to the woman's vehicle, which contravened the Supply Controller's instructions on the daily sales limit to locally-registered vehicles.

Diesel valued at nearly RM800, a pickup truck, purchase receipts, and documents amounting to over RM30,790 were confiscated. The case is currently under investigation under the Control of Supplies Act 1961.
