Kuala lumpur: The Kedah branch of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has put forward a series of recommendations aimed at enhancing the governance of Reserved Certificate (RC) land and Non-Muslim Houses of Worship (RIBI) in the state. These recommendations were shared during an engagement session led by Kedah MACC deputy director of Prevention Syed Aswadi Syed Soffian and attended by key state officials, including Mohd Tarmizi Abdul Rani and Amirah Khairiah Abdul Latip.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the recommendations are part of a broader initiative to improve coordination and administrative efficiency related to state land management. The focus is on developing a governance framework that is clearer and more consistent across relevant agencies, with efforts to update guidance documents for RC and RIBI management to meet current requirements.
The MACC emphasized that these improvements are expected to foster better mutual understanding and ensure accurate and consistent land transaction processes. The recommendations also aim to enhance the information system and organize land records more systematically, thereby supporting administrative efficiency.
The MACC noted that creating a comprehensive database will improve reference accuracy, facilitate information access, and enhance the agency's capacity to manage RC and RIBI land. To support ongoing coordination and enhance operational cooperation, the MACC proposed regular engagement sessions with the State Secretary's Office and the Kedah Land and Mines Office (PTG).
In the same statement, Syed Aswadi highlighted that these efforts are strategic steps to align land management governance with the principles of integrity and accountability. He stressed the importance of a governance framework that is clear, transparent, and consistent.
The Kedah SUK and Kedah PTG have expressed their support for the proposed improvements and committed to reviewing and implementing them progressively, aiming for completion within 12 months.
