Alor setar: The Kedah government today tabled its Budget 2026, amounting to RM1.33 billion for the state's operating and development expenditure next year, with a projected deficit of 11.81 percent or RM99 million. Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor announced that the allocation covers operating expenditure, the State Development Fund, the Forest Development Fund, and the Water Supply Fund.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Muhammad Sanusi stated that the Kedah Budget 2026 marks the first budget under the 13th Malaysia Plan and continues to advance the Kedah Development Plan 2035 and The Greater Kedah 2050 agenda. In his address at the state assembly, he mentioned that the state government expects to collect RM838 million in revenue for 2026, which is an increase of RM48 million compared to the 2025 estimate.

The projected revenue for 2026 comprises land revenue amounting to RM554.81 million, miscellaneous revenue of RM232.88 million, forest revenue of RM33 million, and district revenue of RM17.31 million. The 2026 operating expenditure is estimated at RM937 million, marking an increase of RM47.1 million or 5.29 percent from the previous year. Out of this, RM91.4 million is allocated for the State Development Fund to address the deficits.

For operating expenditure, RM87.33 million is allocated for charged expenditure, while RM849.67 million is designated for supply expenditure. These allocations reflect the government's commitment to addressing the fiscal needs of the state while pursuing long-term development goals.
