Kelantan: The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) Kelantan branch has donated 296 saplings of various species to establish an agro educare centre, serving as an agricultural reference hub for children with special needs.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the local fruit saplings include Jambu Madu, Mangga Air Bunga, Longan Tangkai Mas, Belimbing Madu, and Limau Bali, along with the ornamental plant Ixora. FAMA Kelantan director Wan Faizatul Aniza Ismayatim said the initiative, carried out in collaboration with Bizara Educare Centre, aims to introduce children with special needs to the fundamentals of agriculture and floriculture.
'The Famazara garden is designed to support their development, by offering hands-on learning experiences outside the classroom, covering aspects such as planting and harvesting. At the same time, we are also promoting local fruits, highlighting their nutritional benefits and specific advantages, for their well-being. I hope this Famazara garden will provide valuable exposure, especially in fostering their understanding of agriculture,' she said, at the launch of Famazara Agro Educare in Kampung Telok Panji today. The event was also attended by Bizara Educare Centre founder Wan Zakaria Wan Abu Bakar.
Meanwhile, Wan Zakaria said that the Famazara garden, spanning 0.03 hectares, was developed as a form of nature therapy, to support the emotional, behavioural, and spiritual growth of children with special needs. He added that the learning and training modules applied in the programme are agriculture-based, leveraging its remarkable therapeutic benefits.
