KOTA BHARU, The Kelantan government today launched the ‘Gold for Palestine’ project aimed specifically at women in the state to raise funds to assist the people of Palestine, who continue to face oppression and attacks from the Israeli regime.
State Women and Family Development Committee chairman Rohani Ibrahim, said that the ‘Gold for Palestine’ project was a testament to the concern of the people of Kelantan for Palestine, transcending religion, ethnicity, and background.
She said that this initiative was the first of its kind launched specifically for Kelantanese women, demonstrating their empathy for the plight of the Palestinian people.
“Women in this state are donating their jewellery, such as rings, pendants, bracelets, and gold chains, amounting to 592.59 grammes, estimated to be worth RM238,000, along with cash contributions of RM23,643, to show solidarity with our brethren in Palestine.
“Gold is synonymous with women, which is why this special programme has been initiated, and all contributions
are being collected from non-governmental organisations and individuals,” she told reporters at the 2024 Sayyidatina Khadijah Day celebration, officiated by Kelantan State Assembly Speaker Datuk Dr Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah here, today.
