Kelantan Mobilizes Over 1,200 APM Personnel and 91 Assets for Imminent Floods

Kelantan: More than 1,200 Kelantan Civil Defence Force (APM) personnel have been activated while 91 land and water assets are on standby to deal with floods following the monsoon season in the state.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, APM stated that the readiness of personnel and operational machinery throughout Kelantan is at an optimal level to face the possibility of rising water levels and flooding.

"Additional teams from nearby states are ready to be mobilised at any time. A total of 91 land and water assets including various types of boats, ambulances, multi-purpose lorries, four-wheel drive vehicles, surveillance drones and water rescue equipment are also on standby," according to APM. The team's main focus is to ensure the safety of the people, especially in areas identified as high risk.

Monitoring operations for weather conditions, river water levels, and risky slope areas have also been enhanced through joint monitoring with the Centralised Disaster Operations Control Centre (PKOB) which operates 24 hours. APM's mandatory and proactive actions include the early activation of the APM District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) in all districts, including Pasir Mas, Tumpat, Kuala Krai, Tanah Merah, and Bachok, as well as other districts at risk.

Regular patrols are using land and water assets in flood-risk areas. Latest information announcements are made via APM's social media, along with close collaboration with other disaster management agencies, said APM. The public, especially residents in low-lying areas and near rivers, are advised to be sensitive to the authorities' instructions, prioritise safety, and evacuate immediately when the situation is dangerous or instructed.

APM calls on the community not to take risks by crossing flooded areas and to prioritise the safety of families, especially children and the elderly. Obey evacuation instructions or any safety guidelines issued and take early preparation steps by preparing an Emergency Bag (Ready To Go Bag) to carry basic necessities and important documents. Contact 999 when in need of emergency assistance. APM is committed to ensuring that operations run smoothly and the safety of the people is always guaranteed.
