Tumpat: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has agreed to the establishment of a MARA Junior Science College (MRSM) Ulul Albab in Tanah Merah following a request from the Tanah Merah UMNO Division, says Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki. He stated that the proposal for the new MRSM will be presented at the next MARA Council meeting, as funding for the project has been confirmed.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Asyraf Wajdi announced plans to formally communicate with the Ministry of Economy to advance the project's implementation. He relayed this information to reporters after the Tumpat UMNO Division Delegates' Meeting at the Tumpat MRSM Hall, an event officiated by UMNO president Ahmad Zahid.
Asyraf Wajdi emphasized that the proposal had been a long-time effort by grassroots supporters, initially brought forth by Tanah Merah UMNO Division delegates. He also shared the proposal on his official Facebook page, noting that the MRSM Ulul Albab in Tanah Merah would be the inaugural institution of its kind in Kelantan.
Currently, all 57 MRSMs incorporate the Ulul Albab programme in a mini or 'Tamhidi' format, requiring students to memorize sections of the Quran. MRSM Tanah Merah will become the ninth institution to implement the full Ulul Albab programme comprehensively. Asyraf Wajdi affirmed that with the recent approval from Ahmad Zahid, the project would progress promptly, aligning with the aspirations of the Tanah Merah UMNO and the local populace.
