Selayang: The Community Development Department (KEMAS), in collaboration with Protac Insurance Broker Sdn Bhd, has extended a financial contribution of RM20,000 to the parents of Hannah Nur Qairina Hamdikaswa, a Tabika KEMAS pupil who tragically passed away after falling from the fifth floor of Selayang Heights last February.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the initiative by Protac, a subsidiary of RISDA Holdings, was part of its corporate social responsibility efforts to assist the family during this difficult time. KEMAS director-general Datuk Mohd Hanafiah Man mentioned that this latest contribution adds to the RM9,500 previously provided by KEMAS Selangor and an initial RM7,500 in assistance from the department.
"Today we are handing over Protac's CSR contribution. The child was enrolled at Tabika KEMAS Selayang Indah, but at the time of the incident on Feb 28, her group insurance scheme coverage under TABIKA KEMAS had not yet matured," Mohd Hanafiah explained. He noted that the insurance scheme offers RM50,000 coverage for fatal accidents.
The ceremonial cheque was presented by Jamaluddin Harun, the CEO of Protac Insurance Broker Sdn Bhd, to the deceased child's father, Hamdikaswa Abdullah. Mohd Hanafiah highlighted that the Tabika KEMAS group insurance scheme provides automatic coverage with an annual fee of RM10 and has been operational for seven years.
"Although in this case the insurance had not yet been fully activated, we are thankful for the concern shown by our corporate partner, Protac, which stepped in with a CSR contribution," he added.
