KERIS AMAN II 2023 EXERCISE OFFICIATED TODAY

The Keris Aman II 2023 Exercise, a peacekeeping operation concept training involving 847 participants from 26 countries was officiated at the Malaysian Army Training and Doctrine Command in Port Dickson today.

Joint Training and Exercises (J7) U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (HQ USINDOPACOM) director, Brig Gen Michael R Drowley officiated the opening, while the eight-country marching parade was led by Lt Col Zainol Abdul Samad.

The J7 public affairs division said in a statement tonight that the exercise, which began yesterday till Aug 26 is a collaboration between the Malaysian Armed Forces and USINDOPACOM under the Global Peace Operations Initiative (GPOI) programme.

“The exercise is aimed to train military personnel from various countries to ready their skills for United Nations (UN) missions globally and to boost multinational operations regionally and internationally.

“It also will boost the readiness and skills of the Malaysia MALBATT 850-11 contingent personnel who will implement the UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon in October 2023,” the statement read.

The exercise adapts UN peacekeeping operations scenarios at the operational and tactical levels, and is divided into three aspects, Staff Training Event (STE), Field Training Event (FTE) and Critical Enabler Capability Enhancement (2CE).

J3 assistant chief of staff Maj Gen Datuk Nur Hafis Abdul Karim and 1st Brigade Commander Brig Gen Mohmad Noorlizam Shamsuddin were also present.
