Kuala lumpur: Khazanah Nasional Bhd has welcomed the recommendations of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) and the continued strengthening of Malaysia's airport ecosystem.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the PAC's recommendations align with the broader objective of MAHB's privatisation, which is to enhance Malaysia's aviation sector through improved connectivity, passenger experience, and the competitiveness of airports. Many measures suggested by the PAC are already being implemented or reinforced by MAHB and relevant stakeholders to boost operational performance, stakeholder engagement, oversight, and service quality across the country's airport network.
Khazanah, as a shareholder, expressed its support for the PAC's recommendations, including improved reporting structures. The sovereign wealth fund remains committed to maintaining high standards across areas such as procurement, project delivery, performance tracking, and integrity.
Managing Director Datuk Amirul Feisal Wan Zahir emphasized that privatising MAHB aims to create conditions for long-term transformation by enabling sustained investment and operational excellence. He highlighted that robust airports and connectivity are crucial for trade, investment, tourism, and business activity, significantly contributing to Malaysia's economic competitiveness in a challenging regional landscape.
Amirul Feisal acknowledged the substantial task ahead for MAHB, noting that meaningful transformation requires time. He expressed confidence in MAHB's commitment to adopting global best practices, leveraging international expertise, and pursuing continuous improvement with discipline and consistency.
