Kuala lumpur: The Rural and Regional Development Ministry (KKDW) is set to repair and construct 100 new houses in each state constituency in Sabah under the Rakyat Sejahtera Housing programme (PPRS) next year. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who also serves as the Rural and Regional Development Minister, emphasized this initiative as a testament to the Federal Government's dedication to the region. Sabah has been allocated RM136.02 million under the PPRS, which will see the development of 852 new housing units and the repair of 2,729 existing units.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Tuaran parliamentary constituency will specifically receive RM6.591 million for the construction of 43 new housing units and the repair of 123 existing units. This announcement was made by Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi at the launch of the Sentuhan Kasih Desa @ Tuaran programme held at the Pusat Latihan RELA.
Dr Ahmad Zahid highlighted that the Sentuhan Kasih Desa programme is designed to uplift the economic status of rural entrepreneurs by providing opportunities for sales promotion, access to support services, and exposure to broader markets. He noted that his ministry has played a pivotal role in transforming rural development in Sabah, supported by substantial allocations from the Federal Government.
He further stated that the allocation for Sabah in the Budget 2026 next year will surpass that of other states, demonstrating the Federal Government's commitment, through KKDW and other ministries, to address the challenges faced by the state.
