KL Police To Intensify Efforts To Raise Safety Awareness, Crime Prevention Among Youth

KUALA LUMPUR, The police will continue to intensify efforts to raise safety awareness and crime prevention among youth through its High Profile Policing (HPP) programme to ensure they were more conscious of the issues.

Kuala Lumpur deputy police chief Datuk Azry Akmar Ayob said they were also conducting crime prevention awareness programmes involving universities and schools to help tackle the problem of mischief among students.

‘The HPP programme is an initiative by the police with the concept of police presence together with other agencies to foster close ties with communities.

“It also involves active police presence in public areas in line with the slogan ‘Polis dan Masyarakat Berpisah Tiada’,” he said during his speech when launching the Cheras district enforcement’s MADANI Carnival and HPP at Sunway Velocity here today.

He pointed out that the programme was a solid platform to exchange views and share information between the public, police and other enforcement agencies.

“Through direct interactio
n, the public can get vital information on the security situation in their areas, while enforcement can explain safety measures and the role of the public in crime prevention,’ Azry Akmar said.

The programme also gave the police and other enforcement agencies to understand each community’s specific needs and build a deeper sense of trust between all parties, he added.

“Every area has different safety challenges and through this approach, adapting crime prevention strategies can be more relevant and effective,’ he said.
