Kuala lumpur: The Kuala Lumpur Tower will be illuminated in the colours of blue and gold from today until Friday as a symbolic gesture celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Kawasan Rukun Tetangga (KRT) in the country.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang stated that the KRT has been a vital connector for five decades, uniting various races and religions while promoting the spirit of neighborliness, preserving security, and enhancing the local community's economy. He emphasized that KRT serves as the main artery of the Ministry of National Unity (KPN) in efforts to strengthen unity at the grassroots level.
In the same statement, LSH Service Master Sdn Bhd, the operator of the Kuala Lumpur Tower, described the special lighting not only as a symbol of support but also as a tribute to the significant role of the Rukun Tetangga (Neighbourhood Watch) in fostering community unity over the past fifty years. The company's chief executive officer, Khairil Faizal Othman, expressed that as an iconic landmark of the country, the Kuala Lumpur Tower continually supports initiatives that promote unity and togetherness among the people.
To date, there are 8,586 KRTs nationwide, covering eight core focus areas: economy and standard of living, community safety and resilience, leadership, community well-being, lifelong learning, environment, heritage and culture, and creativity.
