KMKM 2022 convoy arrives in Kuala Lumpur

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 18 (Bernama) — After 19 days of touring the whole of Malaysia, the Keluarga Malaysia Merdeka Convoy 2022 (KMKM 2022) finally arrived in the capital, the final destination with an arrival celebration held at the Institut Pendidikan Guru Kampus Ilmu Khas, Bandar Tun Razak, here at about 4 pm.

The arrival of the convoy of 41 vehicles, including K16 motorcycles, with 62 participants was received by Foreign Affairs Deputy Minister, Datuk Kamarudin Jaffar, who is also the MP of Bandar Tun Razak and Kuala Lumpur Information Department director Lim Ann Teck.

In his speech, Kamarudin said the government has given the freedom to use social media which is now the main interactive medium for the younger generation to spread good and accurate information.

“Therefore, I call on the younger generation to think carefully in every action so that the blessing of independence that we enjoyed in the past continues forever and is not destroyed as a result of our actions.

“Freedom is not only being free from the physical grip of colonialism, but it is necessary to free the soul and mind in forming a strong identity so as not to be influenced by external propaganda that can dilute the spirit of love for the country,” he said.

Meanwhile, Lim said the KMKM celebration at the Kuala Lumpur level started today with the convoy of participants moving from Negeri Sembilan and stopping at Petronas Technology Park, Sungai Besi and then to the Institut Pendidikan Guru Kampu Ilmu Khas to celebrate the National Month 2022 with educators and students on campus.

“Furthermore, on the last day (tomorrow), the KMKM convoy participants will be at several strategic locations including distributing the Jalur Gemilang to the public at Firdouse Restaurant, Jalan Kuching, Kuala Lumpur Sentral, and will end its journey at Menara 1 Lobby, Kuala Lumpur City Hall,” he added.

Earlier, Pahang KMKM 2022 convoy leader and Negeri Sembilan information director Zaaba Abu Bakar handed over the Jalur Gemilang baton to Lim to symbolise the start of KMKM for Kuala Lumpur.
