KOOP SAHABAT ANNOUNCES 10 PCT DIVIDEND PAYOUT

KUALA LUMPUR: Koperasi Sahabat Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (Koop Sahabat) Berhad has announced a dividend distribution of 10 per cent, equivalent to RM9 million, to 448,782 members for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2023, compared with RM6.5 million for the financial year 2022.

Koop Sahabat Board chairman Mohd Najib Mohd Noor said this is the third straight year it has announced a 10 per cent dividend, the highest rate ever recorded by Koop Sahabat since its establishment in August 2012.

He said the dividend payout was the result of the current net profit recorded by Koop Sahabat for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2023, excluding the 2.5 per cent zakat deduction.

“Koop Sahabat achieved two of the targets stipulated through the 2020-2024 Strategic Plan, which is to be among the top 10 cooperatives in Malaysia and a 10 per cent dividend payout rate to its members,’ he told a media conference at its 11th annual general meeting here today.

At the event, Koop Sahabat also launched a new version of the Sahaba
t Super App, which provides improved functionality by featuring a more attractive design and the integration of the Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia financing payment application.

He said the application’s features would also provide an e-commerce platform to empower members’ businesses.

“Exclusively for members, a special programme called ‘Ikon Usahawan’ will be implemented through the application to enhance the branding of members’ products for free,’ he said.

He added that Koop Sahabat has also collaborated with Ikhlas Com Travel Sdn Bhd, which offers affordable Umrah packages to Makkah and Madinah.

He said Koop Sahabat is also collaborating with DCAP Digital Sdn Bhd, an artificial intelligence financial technology platform (AI INTECH) that will provide the cooperative with a sustainable financing platform for motorcycle purchases.

“Koop Sahabat provides a fund of RM5 million for sustainable financing and members can apply for it from August in conjunction with the cooperative’s 12th anniversary,’ he said.

Ko
op Sahabat, with over 45,000 members, was recognised as the third best cooperative in Malaysia in 2023 and has been ranked among the top 10 in Malaysia for five straight years.
