Chemor: The Perak Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) disposed of seized items worth RM1.25 million in the first eight months of this year. Perak KPDN deputy director Mohamad Kamarol Mat Nor stated that the seizures resulted from enforcement operations, which included food products with fake halal labels, counterfeit soap, imitation mobile phones and accessories, as well as fuel pumps, hoses, intermediate bulk containers, and vehicles.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, all the items were confiscated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961, the Trade Descriptions Act 2011, and the Trademarks Act 2019. The items destroyed were part of the successes achieved under Ops Tiris 3.0, aimed at strengthening enforcement and curbing subsidy misuse, as mentioned by Mohamad Kamarol during a press conference for the Perak KPDN 2025 Exhibit Disposal programme at its store in Chemor.
Meanwhile, Mohamad Kamarol disclosed that a total of RM3.22 million worth of seized goods was recorded in the first eight months of this year. He noted that fines amounted to RM434,000, while compounds worth RM1.33 million were recorded over the same period.
Mohamad Kamarol also informed that the department inspected 84,079 premises statewide, with action taken in 941 cases involving offences such as the seizure of controlled items like diesel and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) under the Control of Supplies Act 1961.
