KPDN Labuan Takes Action Against Fun Fair Operator for Lack of Game Charge Display

Labuan: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Labuan has compounded a fun fair operator in Labuan for failing to display charges for several games offered to visitors. Junaidah Arbain, the director of KPDN Labuan, stated that the action was taken following an inspection by enforcement officers at the entertainment site on the night of July 1, after public complaints were received by the ministry.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the inspection revealed that the operator had not clearly displayed charges for several games, which is an offence under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering (Price Marking for Goods and Charges for Services) Order 2020, established under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011 (Act 723). Junaidah emphasized the necessity for traders and service providers to display prices or charges clearly and prominently, in a manner easily understood by consumers before any transaction is made. She noted that failure to comply with this requirement could impair consumers' ability to make informed choices and create confusion during service transactions.

Junaidah highlighted that individuals convicted of this offence might face fines of up to RM50,000 or be compounded according to the law's provisions, while companies could be fined up to RM100,000. She assured that KPDN Labuan would continue to intensify monitoring and inspections periodically to ensure all traders and service providers adhere to the laws enforced by the ministry. "Firm action will be taken without compromise against any party found violating the regulations," she stated.

Additionally, Junaidah urged the public to continue providing information or complaints to KPDN if they detect any breach of trade and consumer-related laws. She underscored the importance of public cooperation in ensuring a more transparent, fair, and ethical business environment in Labuan.
