Selangor: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) seized 2,120 bottles of laundry detergent, suspected to be counterfeit, in a raid on a factory here today. Selangor KPDN chief enforcement officer Mohd Hanizam Kechek stated that the raid, conducted at 2 pm, was the culmination of two weeks of intelligence gathering on the premises, which is believed to have been used as a storage facility for counterfeit goods.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the inspection team discovered that the laundry detergent bore a well-known brand label, allegedly used without permission. The total value of the seized items is estimated at RM29,680. Mohd Hanizam noted that the counterfeit product was likely intended for the Klang Valley market and was being sold at a price lower than the genuine article. The factory is suspected to have been operational for approximately eight months.

The case is currently under investigation under Section 102(c) of the Trademarks Act 2019. The seized items have been transferred to KPDN's storage facility. "The owner of the premises will be summoned to assist in the investigation," Mohd Hanizam said. He also mentioned that the original brand owner is expected to cooperate with KPDN in the ongoing investigation.

A Bernama survey conducted at the raid site revealed that the 3.6-kilogramme bottles of laundry detergent had been packed and were ready for distribution.
