Kuala lumpur: A total of 11,984 warning notices have been issued by the Kuala Lumpur Police to road users as part of the advocacy phase of Operation Compliance with the Law (Op PUU) since September 6. Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus emphasized that this operation focuses on minor road offences often committed by motorists.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the operation aims to highlight the importance of adhering to these minor laws, as they reflect the ethics and discipline of society. The regulations are designed for the collective good, and the advocacy phase will continue until an undisclosed date, after which immediate summonses will be issued to traffic offenders in Kuala Lumpur.

The operation particularly targets offences such as pedestrians not using overhead bridges or zebra crossings, failing to obey traffic lights, and causing traffic obstructions. Additionally, it addresses drivers or riders stopping beyond the white line at traffic light intersections, motorcyclists not wearing helmets, and the use of modified exhausts.

Currently, the operation is concentrated in areas under the administration of the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters (IPD), but plans are in place to expand it to other IPD areas in Kuala Lumpur. The police chief stressed a zero-tolerance approach towards traffic offences and urged public cooperation to ensure smooth traffic flow and safety.

The operation involves the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department, with support from the Road Transport Department (JPJ), Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), and the Department of Environment. Fadil, who took part in the operation around the Bukit Bintang area, also personally advised several road users on their traffic violations.
