Kuala Lumpur: The Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry (KUSKOP) reiterated its commitment to play a strategic role in driving the franchise sector through close cooperation with all stakeholders. Its deputy minister, Datuk Seri R Ramanan, stated that the government would also focus on expanding the involvement of cooperatives as an active player in the franchise sector and support empowering the people's economy through competitive business models with high potential of generating income.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ramanan emphasized that this approach aligns with the MADANI Government's aspiration, which stresses complete economic development and the welfare of every layer of society. He shared that the matter was discussed at the Franchise Advisors' Board meeting 1/2025, which he chaired. The meeting included various parties, such as the Finance Ministry, the Economic Affairs Ministry, the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry, and related agencies, along with major stakeholders in the franchise sector, including the Malaysian Franchise Association, legal experts, and academicians.

Ramanan highlighted that various important matters were discussed, particularly concerning the implementation of the National Franchise Policy 2030. This policy serves as a roadmap for developing a sustainable, inclusive, and progressive franchise sector. He also noted that continued support from government agencies, the industry, and the public is essential to ensure that the franchise sector develops as a major national economic driver.
