Kuala lumpur: Retirement Fund Inc, also known as Kumpulan Wang Persaraan Diperbadankan (KWAP), has become a substantial shareholder in Aeon Co (M) Bhd after purchasing over 1.56 million shares in the company.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, in a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Aeon Co, the operator of the Japanese supermarket chain in Malaysia, announced that KWAP acquired a total of 1,567,200 shares on May 20, 2026. This transaction has resulted in KWAP holding 43.23 million shares, representing a 3.08 percent direct stake, as well as an additional 27.87 million shares, or a 1.99 percent indirect stake, in Aeon Co.
At the close of the market on Friday, Aeon Co shares saw a slight decrease, easing by one sen to RM1.14, with a total of 2.8 million shares traded.
