Labuan Ferry Terminal Set For Major Upgrades To Enhance Traveller Experience

Labuan: The Labuan International Ferry Terminal is set to undergo significant upgrades to improve the overall experience for travellers. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Dr. Zaliha Mustafa, during her working visit to the terminal, emphasised the importance of providing a comfortable and welcoming environment for commuters.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr. Zaliha spoke about the improvements, stating, "The improved facilities will ensure a pleasant terminal for all travellers." She noted that various upgrades have already been completed, such as the expansion of the waiting area and the installation of air conditioning. Furthermore, she disclosed plans to further enlarge the waiting area to accommodate the growing number of commuters and discussed plans to upgrade the old ferry terminal to better serve passenger express boats.

Dr. Zaliha emphasised the need for collaboration with relevant government agencies to address these upgrades seriously. She mentioned the necessity of gathering data on the terminal's capacity and current operations to make informed improvements. She also highlighted the upcoming RM22 million upgrades to the Labuan Ro-Ro Ferry Terminal, scheduled to begin this year, with enhancements focusing on reducing waiting time, enhancing the second ramp, and constructing specific lanes for various types of vehicles and motorcycles.

Additionally, Dr. Zaliha addressed the ongoing delay in the resumption of the Labuan-Kota Kinabalu-Labuan ferry express service. She expressed optimism that the issue would be resolved soon, stating, "This service is crucial for both Labuan and Sabah. I plan to discuss this matter with the Sabah Chief Minister, and we hope to find a resolution before the end of the year."
