Cameron highlands: A landslide triggered by continuous heavy rain blocked part of Jalan Tapah-Cameron Highlands near Batu 25 (Jalan Pahang), about seven kilometres from Ringlet, Cameron Highlands, today. Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant director (Operations) Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad reported the incident at 3.12 pm, leading to the dispatch of personnel from the Tapah Fire and Rescue Station to the scene.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, firefighters arrived at 4.22 pm and discovered that the landslide had brought down tree branches and rocks, obstructing half of the road. Fortunately, no casualties were reported. The team, assisted by Belati Wangsa (the concessionaire), utilized a chainsaw to cut and clear the tree debris, while an excavator was employed to remove the soil and rocks.
'After checks confirmed there were no further hazards, the cleaning work was handed over to Belati Wangsa for further action,' Sabarodzi stated in a press release today. He confirmed that the situation was under control by 4.40 pm, with the operation concluding at 5.10 pm. The rain had ceased by 6 pm.
Earlier in the day, a video believed to show the landslide along the Tapah-Cameron Highlands road gained traction on social media platforms, drawing widespread attention to the incident.
