Kuala lumpur: The launch of National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang 2026, in conjunction with National Day and Malaysia Day 2026 (HKHM2026) celebrations, will be modest yet deeply patriotic. Information Department (JAPEN) Communications and Community Development Division director Muhammad Najmi Mustapha stated that the event, scheduled at the Ministry of Health Training Institute Sultan Azlan Shah (ILKKM SAS) in Tanjung Rambutan, will follow a different concept from previous years.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Muhammad Najmi Mustapha explained that while past events were large-scale and open to the public, such as those in Muar, Johor last year and Cyberjaya in 2024, this year's celebration will be more subdued. The decision considers global challenges, including the energy supply crisis and ongoing conflicts in West Asia. Despite being an indoor event, the intention is for the festive spirit to still resonate with the public.
The event is anticipated to be launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at 10 am. It will be broadcast live on Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) and the Malaysian National News Agency (BERNAMA) and streamed on the Facebook Live pages of Merdeka360, the Ministry of Communications, and JAPEN. The goal is to nurture the spirit of patriotism among the public, with updates provided periodically via the Merdeka 360 portal and JAPEN's social media.
The '1 Rumah 1 Jalur Gemilang' campaign will continue this year to boost HKHM2026 celebrations and encourage public expression of patriotism by flying the national flag. The campaign, introduced a few years ago, has been expanded to include new clusters involving houses of worship and sports, alongside existing clusters such as education, higher education, health, security, community, industry, and government agencies.
Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil previously announced the theme 'Malaysia MADANI: Kesejahteraan Dinikmati' for this year's HKHM2026 celebrations, with the Malaysia MADANI logo remaining the official logo through the next year. The National Day 2026 celebration will be held at Dataran Putrajaya on August 31, on a modest yet vibrant scale.
