Lindung 24-Hour Scheme Declared Essential Safety Measure by Minister Ramanan

Kuala lumpur: The Non-Work Accident or LINDUNG 24 Jam scheme under PERKESO is not a financial burden on contributors; it is social protection at its most affordable, with contribution rates deliberately set low to ensure accessibility. Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan emphasised that the scheme serves as a critical safety net for workers and their families, shielding them from the fallout of unforeseen events such as accidents, disability, or loss of income.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ramanan highlighted the scheme's importance in providing security during unforeseen incidents, such as accidents that can severely impact an individual's ability to care for their family. He questioned whether a 0.75 per cent contribution rate is excessive when it ensures family protection during emergencies. He urged workers to contribute to LINDUNG 24 Jam for personal and familial security, reinforcing the necessity of safety measures.

Ramanan was previously reported to have stated that more than nine million contributors under the Employees' Social Security Act 1969 (Act 4) have been automatically accorded full coverage against non-work-related accidents, effective June 1. He noted that the initial contribution rate for LINDUNG 24 Jam is 0.75 per cent of monthly wages, placing the onus on employers to deduct salaries and remit monthly contributions to Perkeso on behalf of their employees.

Separately, Ramanan revealed that from 2020 to the present month, 145,625 job seekers registered on the MYFutureJobs portal, while 45,535 job placements were recorded through comprehensive job-matching initiatives with employers across Negeri Sembilan. Between January and this month alone, 20,900 job vacancies were advertised via the portal, alongside 4,486 employers who have utilised the platform since 2020.

Regarding the carnival held today, Ramanan noted that job seekers could explore 2,000 vacancies from 40 employers across various industry sectors, covering roles from management and professional positions to industrial trainee placements. He also introduced MYFutureJobs AI+, a supplementary initiative to enhance the MYFutureJobs platform by PERKESO, aiming to transform it into a future talent development platform.
