Putrajaya: Chief Secretary to the Government (KSN) Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar has called on Local Authorities (PBT) to conduct regular reviews of their regulations to prevent outdated rules from hindering public convenience and slowing down developmental processes.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Shamsul Azri emphasized that PBTs should assess their regulations at least every three years. He highlighted the importance of standardizing work processes and approval timelines under the Iltizam Act and urged the acceleration of digital service implementation. These points were underscored during the Engagement Session on Strengthening the Standardisation of Development Approval Processes and Procedures, an event organized by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) alongside mayors and PBT officers in Putrajaya.
He also stressed the significance of the PBT Corporate Communications Unit going beyond merely promoting programs. Instead, the unit should actively assist the public in understanding and utilizing available services. In a Facebook post, Shamsul Azri called for official PBT portals to become more interactive, user-friendly, and easily navigable.
Shamsul Azri concluded by stating that reforms would only be significant when the public experiences more straightforward, quicker, and more transparent transactions.
