Kuala lumpur: The Ministry of Health (MOH) is still awaiting the official report on the post-mortem findings of the five victims who were killed in the Flying Doctor Service (FDS) helicopter crash in Long Lellang, Ulu Baram, Sarawak. Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad stated that the ministry needs official confirmation before releasing further details to the public.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad mentioned that as soon as the ministry receives everything officially, Datuk DG (Health director-general) will provide an explanation. During a press conference following the opening ceremony of the 17th ASEAN Health Ministers' Meeting (AHMM), Dr Dzulkefly indicated that despite having heard about some findings, the ministry has not received any official documentation yet.

Present at the press conference were MOH secretary-general Datuk Seri Hasnol Zam Zam Ahmad and Health director-general Datuk Dr Mahathar Abdul Wahab. Dr Mahathar noted that Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah had previously explained the procedures related to the post-mortems in a statement, but the ministry is still waiting for a further announcement on the matter.

Yesterday, Datuk Mohamad Zainal confirmed that the five bodies of the victims killed in the helicopter crash had been successfully recovered from the crash site and transported from Long Lellang to Miri for post-mortems and related procedures.
