Santubong: The Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development has allocated RM16.6 million to the National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN) for fertility support and family-focused initiatives. These programmes aim to enhance public well-being.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri revealed that the allocation is part of the RM4.187 billion from Budget 2026, as announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. This budget supports the welfare of women, families, and communities. The funding will aid initiatives like the Fertility Assistance and Infertility Advocacy Programme, Reproductive and Social Health Education (PEKERTI), parenting education, and the National Family Agenda.
Nancy announced this at the Kasih Keluarga Programme during the launch of National Family Month 2025 in Santubong. She emphasized the government's commitment to strengthening families, which she described as the nation's true backbone. LPPKN director-general Abdul Shukur Abdullah and chairman Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim were also present.
Nancy highlighted that the initiative is part of broader efforts to address Malaysia's birth rate by encouraging couples to start families earlier. She stressed the importance of parenting education, particularly as parents face challenges from the influence of gadgets and social media on their children.
Kasih Keluarga also marks the beginning of National Family Month 2025, running throughout November with a focus on the family as the foundation of national resilience. Nancy stated that the funding is a strategic move to reinforce family institutions and address social issues and fertility challenges in Malaysia.
