LTO summons car owner in Ayala tunnel hit-and-run incident

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Wednesday summoned the owner of the motor vehicle involved in a hit-and-run incident in Makati City on Oct. 23. In a statement, LTO chief, Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II ordered the issuance of a show cause order (SCO) on the registered owner of an orange SUV with the make and model MG ZS and license plate NIF 2282. A Facebook post with several dashcam videos of the incident showed the MG ZS hitting the rear left corner of a car while cruising along the southbound side of the Ayala tunnel. Instead of pulling over, the MG ZS fled the scene. The driver of the car said he was with two senior citizens and a child when the incident happened. Mendoza has instructed LTO-National Capital Region Director Roque Verzosa III to investigate the incident and coordinate with the victim to file the appropriate legal action against the hit-and-run driver. ‘Tayo ay nagpapasalamat sa tiwala ng ating kababayan nung i-tag ang ating Facebook account sa kanyang social media post (We thank whoever trusted us and tagged the LTO Facebook page in their social post),’ he said. The SCO, he believes, would result in the identification of the person who was driving the vehicle during the incident.
