Kangar: The Malaysia Athletics (MA) men's and women's 4x100 metre (m) quartets emerged as champions in their respective categories on the last day of the 2025 Malaysian Open Athletics Championship at Tuanku Syed Putra here today.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, MA's team of Khairul Hafiz Jantan, Jonathan Nyepa, Danish Iftikhar Muhammad Roslee, and Pengiran Aidil Auf Hajam finished first with a time of 39.68 seconds (s), ahead of the Malaysia University Sports Council, who were second with a time of 40.22s. Another MA team secured third place with a time of 40.56s.
In the women's 4x100m final, with only two teams competing, MA's Zaidatul Husniah Zulkifli, Azreen Nabila Alias, Nurul Wardatul Huwaida Mohd Hamka, and Nur Aishah Rofina Aling claimed victory with a time of 45.58s, surpassing Terengganu, who finished with a time of 50.38s.
After the race, Danish Iftikhar, 18, expressed that competing alongside experienced national sprinters Khairul Hafiz and Jonathan was an honour that motivated him to strive for personal improvement. He mentioned his commitment to doing his best for Malaysia, particularly at the South East Asian (SEA) Games, while focusing on training and rehabilitation under his coach's guidance.
Khairul Hafiz, 27, noted the progress in running quality shown by Pengiran Aidil and Danish Iftikhar, expressing optimism that it would benefit the national team in securing a medal at the 2025 SEA Games. Reflecting on past achievements, he highlighted the potential of juniors like Danish Iftikhar and Pengiran Aidil to contribute to the team's success.
