Kuala lumpur: Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar has urged Muslims in the country to embrace the true meaning of Hijrah, which goes beyond physical change to encompass a comprehensive transformation in values, mindset, and attitude. He emphasized the need for a shift from passivity to proactivity and the cultivation of self-reliance in building a MADANI nation.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohd Na'im highlighted the importance of each citizen becoming a driving agent in fostering knowledge, upholding values, prioritizing unity, and embracing differences. This, he noted, would contribute to the development of families, communities, and the nation, all rooted in compassion and piety. The theme for this year's Maal Hijrah celebration, 'Membangun Ummah MADANI' (Developing a MADANI Ummah), reflects the spirit of the Prophet Muhammad's Hijrah, calling on the ummah to reclaim its role as an agent of mercy, justice, and progress.
During his speech at the National-level Maal Hijrah 1447H/2025M celebration at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), Mohd Na'im reiterated the call for a value-driven society grounded in faith. The event was officiated by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, and attended by Tunku Temenggong Johor, Tunku Idris Iskandar, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, and other Cabinet ministers. Nearly 8,000 attendees, including contingents from ministries, government departments, agencies, and international representatives, participated in the celebration.
Mohd Na'im further explained that hijrah represents a time to renew the collective resolve towards greater unity, moral excellence, and dignity in the effort to build a MADANI ummah. He expressed hope that the year 1447H would mark a turning point, urging a hijrah towards mercy, goodness, and well-being. In alignment with this year's theme, the government, through the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), has introduced the Al-Falah Transformation Plan 2023-2027. This plan is anchored on five hijrah values: Ilmu (knowledge), Integriti (integrity), Itqan (excellence), Istiqamah (consistency), and Ikhlas (sincerity), establishing a strategic framework for Islamic development in Malaysia.
The Al-Falah Transformation Plan aims to create a more sustainable Islamic administration while enhancing civic participation and fostering a more caring community. Various initiatives have been implemented, including Majlis Amanat Al-Falah 2025, the Santuni Komuniti MADANI programme, Zikir Akbar, and high-impact dakwah programmes, alongside outreach activities for orphans and frontliners. Mohd Na'im concluded by stating that these efforts demonstrate the translation of the spirit of hijrah into action, engaging the people, strengthening core values, and empowering society.
