Kuala lumpur: Chief Executive of the Macau Special Administrative Region (SAR) Sam Hou Fai departed for home today after concluding a four-day working visit to Malaysia. The Air Macau NX921 flight carrying Sam and his delegation departed from Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 1 here at 5.06 pm.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Malaysian government chief protocol officer Datuk Rozainor Ramli and Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia Ouyang Yujing were present to bid farewell to Sam, his wife Wong Ho Peng, and other members of the Macau delegation. It was Sam's first visit to Malaysia since assuming office as Macau's fourth chief executive in 2024.

During his visit, Sam co-chaired the Macau Business Leaders Meeting in Kuala Lumpur with Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Sim Tze Tzin on Thursday. He also paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, during which both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing strategic cooperation across fields such as trade and investment, finance, science and technology, education, and the convention and exhibition industry.

Anwar emphasized that this commitment includes efforts to leverage the strategic positions of Macau and Hengqin, which are connected to the Greater Bay Area, for Malaysian companies to explore business opportunities. He added that Malaysia is ready to translate its growing relations with Macau into practical, meaningful, and mutually beneficial cooperation, in line with the spirit of the Malaysia-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

In 2025, the total trade between Malaysia and the Macau SAR was recorded at RM367.7 million (USD85.8 million), marking an increase of 73.6 percent compared to 2024.
