Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has called on any party possessing credible information about the alleged soliciting and payment of money to a politician to come forward and lodge an official report. This appeal is crucial for facilitating a thorough, transparent, and fact-based investigation into the claims.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the MACC emphasized the importance of an official report in its statement today, as no such report has yet been received. The commission noted that while various allegations are circulating in the media, none have been formally submitted, and the viral information remains unverified.
The MACC reaffirmed its commitment to scrutinizing all information received, ensuring that any action taken is based on solid evidence and adheres to legal provisions. The commission seeks to assure the public that investigations will be conducted with integrity and diligence.
Reports from the media previously suggested that businessman Victor Chin alleged a Member of Parliament requested a RM10 million payment to resolve an issue he was facing. However, Chin clarified that the payment was not directly to the Member of Parliament but to a 'middleman' as a 'service fee', and the issue remained unresolved, with RM500,000 still unpaid.
