MACC Detains Three for Alleged RM110,000 Bribery in Pahang

Kuala lumpur: Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested two senior police officers and a retired policeman for allegedly soliciting and receiving bribes amounting to RM110,000 to protect drug and ketum distribution activities in the state.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the three individuals, whose ages range from their 30s to their 50s, were apprehended at around 8.30 pm yesterday when they arrived to provide their statements at the MACC Temerloh branch office.

Initial investigations have uncovered the involvement of four suspects, who are believed to have participated in the illegal activities from 2022 to 2024. 'One of the suspects is believed to have received monthly bribes amounting to RM4,000 to RM5,000 through bank transfers into his personal account before distributing the money to the others,' the source revealed.

One of the suspects has been released on MACC bail after giving his statement. The remaining three are currently under a seven-day remand until August 4, following a remand order issued by the Temerloh Magistrate's Court earlier today.

Pahang MACC director Mohd Shukor Mahmud confirmed the arrests when contacted, stating that the case is being investigated under Section 16(a)(B) of the MACC Act 2009.
