Kedah: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in Kedah has remanded the managing director of a fertilizer supplier company concerning the delay in distributing Supplementary Compound Fertilizer to paddy farmers in the state.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, a four-day remand until September 16 against the male suspect, who is in his 30s, was granted following an application by the MACC at the Magistrate's Court. The suspect was detained around 2:30 pm yesterday when he arrived to provide a statement at the Kedah MACC office. The case is under investigation under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.

The MACC had previously opened an investigation into the delayed distribution of Paddy Fertilizer 3 to paddy farmers in Kedah. This investigation followed a complaint from the Malaysian Paddy Farmers Brotherhood Organisation (PeSAWAH) on August 26. The delay in fertilizer supply has impacted the needs of paddy farmers within the Muda Agricultural Development Authority (MADA) area, which spans 100,000 hectares.
