Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has proposed eight recommendations to the National Registration Department (JPN) aimed at bolstering governance in the management of rental contracts for shop lots, stalls, and kiosks at JPN's state and federal territory offices.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, these recommendations emerged from a governance investigation conducted by MACC's Governance Investigation Division (BPT), which scrutinized the rental contract management processes at JPN. Key proposals include the development and enhancement of mechanisms, systems, and procedures for submitting written applications to the Home Ministry's building managers for renting office space to third parties.

Additionally, the recommendations address the need for obtaining approvals for renovations, preparing valid written agreements for leasing JPN office space to external parties, and conducting security screenings of private-sector workers at JPN office kiosks. The BPT also suggested that rental rates for JPN state office spaces leased to external parties should be set with guidance from the Valuation and Property Services Department.

Furthermore, the MACC advocated for a transparent and open bidding process through the JPN Kuala Lumpur National Welfare, Culture and Recreation Council Club to select tenants. The recommendations also emphasize monitoring and setting reasonable prices for products and services to protect JPN's image, while ensuring that business activities adhere to proper practices without disrupting the daily operations of JPN state offices and headquarters.

All eight recommendations were presented by BPT Governance Investigation of Procurement Branch chief Teh Chong Earn at the Kamar Sidang Terbilang in JPN headquarters today. JPN Management Services Division deputy director Muhamad Ghazali Mamat@Mansor expressed support for the recommendations, considering them essential for promoting transparent, accountable, and uniform governance practices.
