Petaling jaya: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will host the 21st ASEAN Parties Against Corruption (ASEAN PAC) Meeting in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, from October 28 to 30.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki announced that the meeting, themed 'ASEAN Unity: Public-Private Partnerships to Combat Corruption', will see participation from representatives of 10 ASEAN countries, international organizations, and Timor-Leste, which will attend as an observer. The meeting aims to enhance regional cooperation by fostering smart partnerships between the public and private sectors in the fight against corruption. It will also allow MACC to share its anti-corruption initiatives and learn from the experiences of other countries.
Azam emphasized that the meeting could positively impact Malaysia's Corruption Perception Index (CPI) by demonstrating efforts that benefit both the nation and the region. Additionally, Azam revealed plans for launching a national-level anti-corruption program, Keep Malaysia Clean (KMC), on October 1, coinciding with the MACC's anniversary and expected to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The KMC program, organized in collaboration with the Consultation and Corruption Prevention Panel (PPPR) and supported by Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir and Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek, will span 15 months. Its aim is to introduce a new approach to instilling values of cleanliness, civic responsibility, and integrity across various sectors, including government, private entities, students, and the broader community, with a strategy focused on identified target groups.
