MACC’s Successful Recovered Assets, Money Among Focus Of Today’s Dewan Rakyat’s Sitting

Kuala lumpur: The total amount of money and assets successfully recovered by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) throughout 2025 in cases related to corruption and abuse of power will be among the focus of today's Dewan Rakyat's sitting. According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Order Paper published on the Parliament's official website indicates that V Ganabatirau (PH-Klang) is set to question Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim regarding this issue. This inquiry will also cover comparative statistics from before and after the administration of the MADANI Government during Minister's Question Time. Datuk Seri Shahidan Kasim (PN-Arau) plans to ask the prime minister about the investigation status by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) concerning an alleged attempt to overthrow the Government. The inquiry will focus on its threat to parliamentary democracy and whether the investigation would explore elements of embezzlement or misuse of state funds. During the session for oral answers, Datuk Seri J alaluddin Alias (BN-Jelebu) intends to question the prime minister on how the Government ensures that the quality of legislation drafting remains high and is not rushed, especially for laws with significant implications on people's rights and the economy. Additionally, Datuk Abdul Khalib Abdullah (PN-Rompin) will seek the Health Minister's update on the latest statistics of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) among rural residents and the Ministry's measures to control the rising cost of dialysis treatment through the addition of dialysis satellite centres in small districts. Muhammad Ismi Mat Taib (PN-Parit) will also engage the Home Minister on strategies to address the rise of petty and property crimes in public housing areas, particularly in high-density regions. The session will proceed with the second reading of the Constitution (Amendment) (No.2) Bill 2026, which involves the separation of roles of the Attorney-General and Public Prosecutor. The First Meeting of the Fifth Term of the 15th Parliament spa ns 20 days, commencing on January 19 and concludes today.
