MAF Leadership and Administrative Concerns: Khaled Nordin to Address Regent of Johor

Johor bahru: Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin is set to have an audience with the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail, to discuss and provide clarity on administrative challenges currently facing the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF). This meeting is intended to address recent remarks made by the Regent concerning the leadership within the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and the Regimen Gerak Khas (RGK).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the audience aims to offer a detailed explanation regarding the issues highlighted by His Highness, including the leadership concerns and the implications for military administration. Khaled Nordin expressed the importance of this engagement, noting that it provides a platform to clarify the situation and explore collaborative efforts aimed at enhancing the current state of affairs within the MAF.

The need for this meeting arises after Tunku Mahkota Ismail issued a decree on Tuesday emphasizing that any development plans involving the RGK should not deviate from decisions previously sanctioned by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia. This decree was made during the 61st Anniversary parade ceremony of the RGK in Mersing, where the Regent also articulated concerns about management issues within MINDEF and the leadership of the MAF.

Khaled Nordin, speaking at a press conference following the Kota Tinggi Barisan Nasional Thanksgiving ceremony at the Dewan Jubli Intan Sultan Ibrahim, stated his belief in the necessity of providing a transparent explanation and expressed optimism about the opportunity to work together towards resolving these challenges.
