Scotia sea: A strong 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck the Scotia Sea at 4.22 pm today. The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) reported that the quake was centred at 60.3 degrees South and 47.5 degrees West, approximately 2,712 kilometres southeast of Puerto Montt, Chile. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometres.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, MetMalaysia stated that there is no tsunami threat to Malaysia following the quake.
